inspired by life long dedication to music and a rebel in the underground dance scene santiago de chile based producer jeaven presents his debut on resopal. his playground effects ep is a three-tracker showing his personal definitions of contemporary house / detroity - minimal - or how should we name it ? simply ... music! playground effect, the ep title is a great description of jeavens music, where everything is in constant and vibrant motion. from the the way the tracks evolve - to sound design to the beat-programing – there are no presets. the title track seems to spin at two velocities at once, balancing a driving, linear groove with half-speed voices to create a sense of suspended animation. centralized goes even deeper, with a rippling bass melody that gets deep inside your stomach. all three tracks on this ep are like springtime on hot wax.

last years tbg01 was charted by german djane ellen allien and broadcasted by gilles peterson of bbc-international fame - amongst others. the second installment (with the slightly confusing catalog-number tbg04) changes its appearance from white-label 12 inch in a black & white gatefold cover to heavy white vinyl in a multicolored disco-sleeve. the labels patron arthur boto conley showcases the work of obscure 1980s producer clifford trunk. the lo-fi dance and ambient tracks origin from a tape which was hand to conley by trunk during a brief encounter at düsseldorfs ratinger hof in 1986. depicted on the cover you can see italian designer ettore sottsass work for the fashion company esprits european headquarter which opened up the same year. clifford trunk was working for the sottsass associati from 1982 on and had a leisure time obsession for drum-computers and sample synths. what a serendipity! - limited to 333 records.

next michel cleis masterpiece , this time on dj kozes pampa records... >mir a nero< begins with a steady, upbeat kick underlying a simple piano arpeggio - like if philip glass make dance music - but then some accents of vibrant hand percussion loosen up the vibe, soon progressing into rhythmic layers that cause the energy to swell. by the 4-minute mark, a subtle, buzzing synth permeates the background, contrasting the tracks overall organic feel, leading into the playful piano chords and colombian vocal hook. simply put, this is latin house with that anomalous pampa records swagger, drenched with flavor like sangria-soaked mango. flip that baby over and you get >amaranthus<, named after the famed flower that represents immortality. this piece stands as a color-negative of >mir a nero<, an unwavering stomp with just shadows of the piano sample heard earlier. freeze-dried rather than sun-ripened, >amaranthus< is a dubby, more technofied counterpart to the a-side, crafted for deeper and darker moments on the dancefloor.

for this second release the new parisian label street knowledge choose to produce two young native italians djs. peter jd and francys met in a small city in the south of italy, both evolving on the music scene since they are 14. peter is bringing the detroit house music touch whereas francys the 80s 90s music sound. from this collaboration is born the connection ep. where two different worlds find each other in a common space, connection ep brings different ideas of sound at the same time, by one side following a dry techno line with pumping drums and solid grooves, by the other side warmer and deeper, crossing hypnotic detroit flavored synths, chicago house, organic elements and chromatic female vocals. to make this release totally international jenifa mayanja from connecticut and the greek quell are delivering two remixes that should make a bomb effect on all the dance floors.
